Byron Ioannou is an Associate Professor of Urban Planning, Head of the Department of Architecture, and founder of the Urban Planning and Development Unit (UPDU, www.frederick.ac.cy/updu) at Frederick University. He studied Architecture and Planning at the National Technical University of Athens and Planning Law at Leeds Beckett University. He has also taught Sustainable Built Environment courses in several Universities of the Mediterranean Basin. His research and professional experience focus on planning policy, climate plan assessment, environmental urban design, and sustainable mobility. He has served as a built environment expert in juries, accreditation, and decision-making bodies both locally and internationally.
