Stella Karra
Dr. Stella Karra is a project manager at Center of Social Innovation and holds a part-time faculty position at the University of Nicosia. She obtained her BEng and MSc in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Environmental Technology from the University of Patras and did her PhD on Urban Air Quality applied environmental fluid mechanics approaches (experimentally and field work) at UCL, University College London. She applies physics-based approaches to projects in higher education and research that try to address threats of air pollution on the environment and public health, and implement sustainable solutions. She previously taught at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology on environmental fields and participated in field campaigns and projects on Air Quality in London, India, and Cyprus. Currently, Stella and manages EU-funded projects (Erasmus+ KA2) committed to advancing environmental and educational awareness, tackling the effects of climate change in primary and secondary schools, and higher education institutions. Furthermore, she concentrates on reshaping businesses in light of the climate crisis and strengthening the bond between Vocational Education and Training (VET) and the green sector through a capacity-building program.
