Andreas Kettis was born on 3 February 1976 in Larnaca. He holds a University Degree in Political Science and Public Administration with specialisation in Public International Law and International Relations from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens (1999). He pursued postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom with a merit scholarship from the Government of the UK. He holds a Master of Arts in Contemporary European Studies from the Sussex European Institute of the University of Sussex at Brighton (2001). He was a career diplomat between 2001 and 2016. During this time he served as deputy Director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary (2001-2002);Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Cyprus in Sweden (Stockholm) with parallel accreditation to Norway, Iceland, Latvia and Lithuania (2002-2006);Diplomatic Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in Brussels (2006-2010);Deputy Director of the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia and Senior Official of Cyprus to the Union for the Mediterranean (2010-2011);Chief Diplomatic Advisor on EU Affairs to the President of the Republic of Cyprus and Sherpa of the President of the Republic for the European Council meetings during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU (2011-2013);Seconded National Expert in DG EXPO of the European Parliament (2013-2014);Senior Diplomatic Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in Brussels (2013-2014). In September 2015 after succeeding in a European Competition he was appointed Head of Unit in DG COMM in the European Parliament and posted in Nicosia as Head of the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus.
